Alex Lanier plays the ASTROX 99 PRO in the lighter 4U version – quite deliberately. He wants some weight in the head, but at the same time the racket needs to accelerate quickly and not cost him unnecessary energy over a long match.
A reactive shaft and a direct feel on acceleration also matter a lot to him. Before switching to the current generation of the ASTROX 99 PRO, Lanier says he spent around ten months testing different prototypes and setups.
That fits his game well: plenty of pressure in attack, without giving up speed for fast follow-up actions.
